Community Service

As a Catholic school, faith is the foundation upon which our school is built and the predominant influencing factor in our development as compassionate human beings. Students at Saint Pius X take an active leadership role in community service projects and fundraising initiatives.

Some of these initiative include:

  • Assisting/volunteering at Saint Pius X Parish

  • Volunteering at Parkgate Community Centre and Kiwanis Senior Care Centre

  • Making and serving sandwiches at the “Door Is Open” Soup Kitchen

  • Collecting food bank donations for St. Vincent de Paul Society

  • Supporting various local charities and organizations: Terry Fox Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, BC Children’s Hospital, BC Cancer Agency, Variety Club, Alzheimer’s Society, GGMS and Make a Wish Foundation.

Saint Pius X has a committed Student Council made up of ten members and an active Leadership Club made up of 50 members.  Saint Pius X is a “We School” where students work to raise funds for “Free the Children”, an international charity and educational partner, working both domestically and internationally to empower and enable youth to be agents of change.

All students in Grades Four to Seven at Saint Pius X complete service journals/projects, outlining their community involvement and social justice initiatives throughout the year.

We believe that such efforts help our students to develop empathy and compassion, make a positive impact and further contribute to our ideal of holistic education. We believe we can all make a difference!
